Assignment #4

If i were Napoleon and i had found out the milk was missing, i would have checked everyone's living quarters and the entire house. On top of that, have everyone swear an oath to the farm that they did not take the milk, see anyone take the milk, or have anything to do with the missing milk. I loved when George Orwell buried the hams hanging in the kitchen. I found that to be extremely funny. He has truly taken personification to another level. I'm not sure if all the animals could be trusted, that is why I do not agree with the 2nd commandment.

4 Paragraph / Mini-Film Essay

According to Michael Moore's Film, Sicko, America's health care system is flawed because it does not have universal health care and that the health insurance companies are corrupt.

Americas health care is seriously flawed. We are one of the greatest countries ever to be founded. Why wouldn't we have adequate health care. The United States needs universal health care. We have the money,resources,tools and the people medically fit to do this. The only problem is the health insurance corporations are corrupt and we as human beings are to scared to fight the companies. Because of this, America will never have universal health care.

The heads of these corporations only care about one thing...money. How much they can get, how fast can they get it and who ever is stopping them from meeting their quota gets cut. 45-50 Million don't have health insurance, the companies have the money to fully insure all of these people and it still would not put a dent in their pocket. If the company has the right to call itself a human being then it should also get the consequences. How many millions of people are dying each night because the CEOs want to make a couple extra hundred dollars.

With no universal health and CEOs maximizing profits with the ex pence of the us dying and having to pay unpayable bills. The only person benefiting is the corporations, something needs to be done if we are ever going to live up to the name we are given. This is the United States of America, if people in Cuba have a longer life span than us there is something wrong. There is only one solution to our problems. THE CEOs HAVE TO GO!!!

Sicko Movie Discussion Questions

Assignment #2

1. The movie is saying that the United States health care was extremely cheep, unfair, and cruel. There are other country's that are small and poor and still have universal heath care. If we are such a great nation why is our heath care problems so great to.

2. The big problem is the United States health care. The best solution is to make universal health care. If everyone had health care we would live longer, healthier and efficient lives. The only way we could accomplish this is if our government can stop being corrupt, stand as one nation and we will prevail as a country.

3. Many politicians are corrupt and dont have the publics safety in mind. they are cutting corners, taking short cuts and getting paid off for doing the wrong thing or looking the other way. We need to have a leader who will not give in to greed and do the right thing.

Corporations, Class and Globalization

Assignment #1

1a. In the sweatshops the people got treated poorly. They get extremely little pay, at times it could be lower the 32 cents. Thier houses are flooded most of the time, mold and rot covers the floors, they are even beat in the work area.

1b. I feel that corporations are psychopath for the simple fact that to be considered a psychopath you need to be a human being. A psychopath is a person with no sense, acts out of emotions, and does not have remorse for another human being.

1c. The corporations were basically given human rights because, lawyers several years ago came up with the idea to compare corporations to people, by saying that a corporation is a family so it should be considered a human being as itself. They did this for the sheer fact that they wanted to get out of paying the government.

1d. The corporations say that the people there are in need of care, so they come in and hire people to work in a factory. They say themselves the pay is low...to us, but in factually the pay their getting they cant even survive off it. And when the people start asking for to much, they wrap up the factory and go to another country in need of "help"

1e.Capitalism is the reason corporations can make so much profit and pay so little. In a capitalistic society there are ways to get out of taxes and make maximum profit while harming the envierment without any serious consequences.

1f. Workers in third world countries have extremely little or no rights at all. They are to scared to form a union and rebel, because they will be severely beaten or killed. In their country they just want to work for their pennies an hour and go home to their families to eat the rice they bought with their pay.
